It’s been a long time since we’ve all been waiting for the release of Lost Soul Aside. And, luckily the wait is finally over as we are going to have the game released this month. This incredible was once started as a solo project. But now it has grown into a Sony‑backed production with a 40‑person team.

Lost Soul Aside is a stylish action RPG. You are going to experience fast‑paced combat, and RPG systems with some amazing cinematic visuals. By just the look of the game, you can see that it is influenced by Final Fantasy and Devil May Cry. Here are 10 things you need to know before playing Lost Soul Aside.

#1 Story About Fantasy & Conflict

Lost Soul Aside sets you in the boots of Kazer. This is a stoic warrior with a crystal‑dragon companion named Arena. In this game, you’re fighting against an empire as well as searching for your sister. During your search, you are going to deal with a threat called the Voids (extradimensional beings that aren’t all hostile).

Arena is one of these Voids. It forms an unlikely alliance with Kazer to acquire some unique powers. Lost Soul Aside mixes political rebellion with mystical elements and with your personal stakes in the game.

You can also expect party members with contrasting personalities.

    #2 Final Fantasy Strong DNA

    Final Fantasy Strong DNA

Yang Bing, the developer of the game, has been open about how Final Fantasy inspired Lost Soul Aside.

He mentioned many times that the world of Lost Soul Aside blends fantasy with modern touches. In this game, Kazer’s outfit feels contemporary. However, he explores crystal‑themed environments and battles mythical creatures.

Crystals are the main thing of the story. They are reflected in Arena’s design and the game’s environments.

All this will feel familiar, especially if you’ve already enjoyed the tone of Final Fantasy XV. However, the gameplay is much faster and more aggressive.

#3 Linear Progression System (No Open-World Game)

Lost Soul Aside is not an open‑world sandbox. The game uses a linear structure with large and explorable zones. These areas include:

    • Branching paths
    • Secrets
    • Traversal challenges

But there’s a storyline that you will follow to progress.

Traversal is a big part of the experience. Arena can transform into tools for movement. You can dash jumps, gliding, flight, and even a crystal hoverboard. There’s no sprawling map grind because these abilities are awesome with endless possibilities.

    #4 Arena

    Arena

Arena is the main character in Lost Soul Aside. In gameplay, Arena transforms into four distinct weapons.

You can swap between these weapons instantly. You can also chain them in combos so you can adapt mid‑battle.

    • Sword (Fast, close‑quarters combos for aggressive play)
    • Great Sword (Heavy strikes that deal massive knockback)
    • Poleblade (Ranged attacks and bullet‑style projectiles)
    • Scythe (A versatile weapon mixing range, speed, and power)

#5 Weapon Skills, Upgrades, and Customization

Lost Soul Aside - Weapon Skills, Upgrades, and Customization

Each weapon type has up to four active skills tied to your face buttons. Some of the skills are warp‑speed aerial slashes and explosive projectile barrages. With the help of the skill tree in the game, you can unlock new abilities and gain passive bonuses with also a chance to boost stats.

You’ll also find weapon fragments during exploration. These can be used to customize appearance and upgrade skills. You will experience both combat mastery and exploration in this game.

    #6 Combat

    Lost Soul Aside Combat

Lost Soul Aside is going to deliver, especially if you like hack‑and‑slash combat with style. It’s fast, fluid, and designed to be easy to pick up but hard to master.

Also, dodging and parrying are both present, though timing isn’t as punishing as in Sekiro.

The game also features a Combo Burst mechanic. Because of this, you need to time your button press at the right point in a combo, and you’ll unleash a stronger, flashier attack. On top of that, the Fusion Gauge lets Arena join in with powerful claw and strike abilities. You can also upgrade them.

    #7 Large Boss Battles

    Large Boss Battles

Boss encounters are the best part of this game. They are big with cinematic set pieces as well as feature elaborate attack patterns. Each boss in Lost Soul Aside pushes you to use your weapon swaps, skills, and mobility options to their fullest.

Bosses are designed to be highlights of the story and combat system.

    #8 Semi‑Open Exploration

The zones in Lost Soul Aside are large enough to encourage exploration. However, they are not big enough. You’ll find hidden paths as well as optional fights that expands the world beyond the main story.

Traversal abilities make getting around enjoyable and give each area a sense of verticality.

#9 PC and PS5 Performance Features

    PC and PS5 Performance Features

The game launches on August 29, 2025, for PS5 and PC.

On PC, you’ll need 80 GB of storage. Minimum specs include a GTX 1060 or RX 5500 XT with 16 GB of RAM. The recommended settings suggest an RTX 3070 or RX 6800 XT.

Note: PS5 Pro support is confirmed, with expected improvements to visuals and frame rate.

    PC features include:

    • 4K resolution with unlocked frame rates.
    • Ray tracing support for ultra settings.
    • DLSS or AI‑based frame generation.
    • Full DualSense controller compatibility with haptics.

    #10  Editions, Price, and Extras

    Lost Soul Aside

The Standard Edition costs $59.99. The Digital Deluxe Edition is $69.99. However, both editions include the full game, with no PSN account required for PC players.

    Digital Deluxe Edition includes:

    • Three weapon fragment skins.
    • Arena skin.
    • Health and XP boosters.
    • Digital soundtrack.

    Lost Soul Aside Verdict

Few indie‑turned‑AAA projects look as ambitious as Lost Soul Aside. No one is going to say that it was once started as a solo project. It blends the visual spectacle of Final Fantasy with the combo‑heavy gameplay of Devil May Cry, wrapped in a polished, story‑driven RPG package. Lost Soul Aside has earned its own identity, thanks to the shape‑shifting weapon system, fast combat, and traversal tools.

With its August 2025 release, it’s positioned to be one of the year’s biggest action RPG launches. If you’re into cinematic action with flexible combat and crystal‑infused fantasy worlds, this should be on your radar.
