One of the most novel gaming ideas in recent history is perhaps, Monomi Park’s Slime Rancher,  which was released back in 2016.  With its sequel currently in early access,  a lot of people are playing the game trying to figure out what exactly they are supposed to do.  By far the quickest and easiest way to progress in Slime Rancher 2 is to amass the necessary funds to finance a sustainable slime ranch.  Inexperienced players may waste hours or even days attempting to figure it out, when the solution is right under our noses.

But before I move on,  I’ll need to break down the fundamentals for the benefit of new players watching.  So, obviously the objective of Slime Rancher 2 is to ranch slimes in your slime ranch.  However,  unlike conventional animal agriculture, in Slime Rancher 2 a slime’s market value is determined by their own feces,  known as plorts.  And if that wasn’t weird enough,  pure slimes can also mutate into Largo slimes by ingesting a plort not of its type.

And unless you play in casual mode,  a Largo slime that consumes a plort it doesn’t create mutates into the very hazardous, Tar slime,  which devours everything in its path.  As you can imagine,  failing to keep your slimes contained runs the risk of causing a Tar slime outbreak.  Each plort’s type price fluctuates randomly every day.  For now,  you can ignore this,  as you’ll need an insane amount of investment money to make an unlimited amount.  I promise you that by the end of this tutorial,  you’re going to have more money than you know what to do with.

How to make UNLIMITED money in Slime Rancher 2!

Ignore Pink Slimes

So here’s my new save file with Tar slimes enabled.  As you can see.  First things first,  the pink slimes are to be completely ignored.  Their plorts are a poor return investment.  A pink slime’s main advantage is that they can eat all types of food,  which makes using them fairly straightforward.  Although pink slimes can be used to a new player’s advantage,  it’s better to disregard them in favor of higher return investments.  

Collect 20 Yellow Cotton Slimes and as Many Fruits and Veggies 

The first thing you have to do is collect 20 yellow cotton slimes and as many fruits and veggies as possible.

Plorts you find along the way are also useful for cashing in.  Now simply fire all the veggies,  fruits,  and cotton slimes into your quarrel.  The cotton slimes will consume the dispersed vegetables and poop out cotton plorts. 

Take The Plorts and Shoot Them Into The Tube at The Plort Stock Exchange

To make money,  take the plorts and shoot them into the tube at the plort stock exchange.  This should immediately be used to finance your very first garden.  Cotton slimes favor water cabbage and provide double the amount of plorts,

so you should preferably opt to plant water cabbage over the more readily available carrots.  However,  as you reach late game,  you may no longer have a need for the variant of slime you’ll be using.  As such,  the vegetable you choose to harvest doesn’t really matter too much.  Early in the run,  the majority of supplies will be gathered in the wild,  so it’s not a major loss.  

Buy High Walls

Continue this process and buy high walls and a net to keep them enclosed.  Don’t forget to collect fruits,  which will be necessary later.

Buy a Solar Shield,  Then Go Out at Night and Gather Blue Phosphor Slimes

Next,  buy a solar shield,  then go out at night and gather blue phosphor slimes.  Phosphor slimes are unique since they die when exposed to sunshine.  The solar shield prevents this from ever occurring,  assuming you successfully keep them contained.  Introduce 20 phosphor slimes into the coral of cotton slimes,  and they should immediately start devouring the fruits you’ve been storing up.  The phosphor slimes poop out blue ports that turn the cotton slimes into phosphor cotton slime largo slimes.

Likewise,  cotton plorts will cause the same effect on phosphor slimes.  They produce more plorts and actually share the traits of both slime types.  Which means it won’t matter if you give them fruits or vegetables.  At this point,  you can opt plant fruit to feed your ravenous slimes.  As the favorite of phosphor slimes,  the Qberry is worth recommending.  Continue collecting fruits and vegetables to keep them happy and fed.  Again,  I cannot stress this enough.

Make New Gardens with Fruits and Veggies

Ensure that each and every slime has a smile on their face.  If you won’t do it for them,  do it for your slime ranching career.  Agitated slimes are especially challenging to control.  This is actually a very large amount of slimes for one coral.  So making money out of it at this stage will require a little babysitting.  Make new gardens with fruits and veggies to help nourish your slimes.  If you continuously go out and get the materials you require,  you ought to be able to comfortably feed them at this point.

Make Another Coral With The Same High Walls and Upgrade

Next,  you’ll have to make another coral with the same high walls,  net,  and solar shield upgrades.  Be deathly afraid of shooting different types of plorts into the coral,  as even one mistake can result in a tar outbreak.  And to this end,  you should really keep the pink slimes away from your corals.  Dispose of them in the sea if you must.  Don’t worry about them.  You’ll have more than enough new bucks after all to settle any lawsuits filed by slime activists.

Be Sure To Upgrade Your Gardens and Always Purchase The Scare Slime

Continue cultivating fruits and vegetables too until you can comfortably sustain both corals.  Be sure to upgrade your gardens and always purchase the scare slime first to fend off wild slimes.  Finally,  you’re going to need the last three coral upgrades,  the music box,  auto feeder,  and port collector.  The music box is an outstanding quality of life upgrade in that it makes agitated slimes less hyper and easier to contain,  while the auto feeder helps by providing food you dump into the compartment at regular intervals.

I recommend setting the bar to max,  as the auto feeder alone isn’t enough to keep all of them happy.  But the real game changer is definitely the port collector.  In a time-sensitive game like Slime Rancher 2,  if you really think about it,  quality of life upgrades like the port collector give you more time to devote to more worthwhile activities.  Like exploring new regions in Rainbow Island.  

Sleep, Feed the Slimes,  Replenish the Auto Feeder

After buying the port collector,  you just need to sleep,  feed the slimes,  replenish the auto feeder,

and sell plorts.  Rinse and repeat,  it’s that easy.  But to make the most of your time,  I advise selling your plorts when the phosphor and cotton are of higher value than the usual.  For the record,  I like to sell my phosphor and cotton plorts when they both cost at least 18 new bucks each.  And now you’re thinking,  with profit margins like this in just a weekend game, 

Utilize Extensions for Slimes in Open Range

Want to earn big money in the game? Well, there’s a cool trick to make that happen without risking your slimes! So, in the beginning, putting slimes in corrals is a good way to make some cash. But if you really want to rake in the profits, you’ll find that cramming too many slimes into a corral isn’t safe. The solution? Give certain slimes the freedom to roam around!

But hold on, there are a couple of things to remember if you want this to work. First, you’ll need to expand your ranch by purchasing or obtaining different expansions. The Grotto and The Overgrowth are great choices for letting specific types of slimes wander outside the corrals. By keeping them away from the main ranch area, you won’t be tripping over slimes all the time.

Here’s a crucial tip: Allow only one or two types of slimes to roam freely in an area. That way, you can prevent them from turning into Tarrs, which can be a disaster and wipe out all your precious slimes. Just stick with two types of slimes, and they’ll only turn into Largos.

A smart move to start with is to fill The Grotto with Phosphor Slimes since it’s dark in there, and these slimes love the darkness. Plant a few fruit trees, and let them roam and feast as they please. Easy money, right there!

Invest Your Time at Mochi’s Manor

Many players don’t realize that Mochi’s Manor is a hidden treasure trove of extra cash! When you get that special invite to Mochi’s place, you can take on a fun mini-game quest. The mission involves shooting Quicksilver Slimes to collect their plorts, which you can then sell directly back to Mochi for a sweet amount of money. It’s a pretty good deal already, but wait, there’s more!

Completing missions for Mochi not only gives you that extra cash but also unlocks awesome rewards that open up more money-making opportunities. One of these rewards is a buff that occasionally doubles the money you get when selling plorts at the market. Nice, right? It’s like a little bonus boost to your earnings!

But that’s not all. If you keep at it, you’ll eventually earn the whole Mochi’s Manor for yourself. And guess what? With that, you’ll be able to transport slimes or grow food there, which can add even more to your income. It’s like building your own money-making paradise!

Unveil Crates and Treasure Pods

This trick won’t make you a millionaire in one go, but trust me, it adds up over time! As you explore the game world, keep an eye out for wooden crates hidden in various spots. Just pick them up and give ’em a good throw to crack ’em open. You’ll find useful stuff inside like chickens, fruits, or veggies, and a little bit of cash as well. It’s like a small reward for your curiosity!

Now, there’s something even cooler called Treasure Pods, but they’re a bit more rare to come across. These babies give you extra resources and more money, but there’s a catch: you need to unlock the treasure cracker upgrades first. Yeah, that means spending some cash upfront, but it’s totally worth it! The higher-tier upgrades might cost you a bit, but hey, if you’re a completionist and want to open every single pod out there, it’s a smart investment for the long haul.

Finish Exchange Missions

In Slime Rancher, there’s a final way to make money – and it’s pretty cool! Sometimes, other ranchers in the area will ask you for specific resources. You’ll get these requests every now and then. To accept a mission, just head over to the Range Exchange and hit the button. Then, off you go to find the things those ranchers need.

Some quests will be a breeze to complete, while others might be a bit trickier. But here’s the deal: the tougher missions offer better rewards. So, if you want to earn more cash for your efforts, it’s smart to take on quests from characters like Viktor, Mochi, or Ogden. They tend to have some challenging tasks in store for you, but the payoff is totally worth it.

Plus, going on these quests will lead you down some interesting questlines. It’s like uncovering a whole new layer of excitement in the game.
