With the popularity of Snail Inc.’s most recent releases—the “Scorched Earth” map for ARK Survival Ascended and the “Bob’s Tall Tales” DLC—the company is expected to continue growing as we approach the second quarter of 2024. At the debut, Bob’s Tall Tales and ARK: Survival Ascended were two of the top three-selling titles on Steam. These accomplishments led to a 400% increase in players on one of Snail’s most popular titles. This shows the company’s commitment to creating engaging and immersive experiences.
Bellwright, which offers an immersive gaming experience that goes beyond traditional gaming, seems to be a ground-breaking addition to Snail’s portfolio. In the survival strategy, role-playing, and city-building game Bellwright, users take on the role of revolutionaries and their leaders. Bellwright adds something unique to the gaming scene with its rich and dynamic universe, complex storytelling, and inventive gameplay mechanisms.
About the Bellwright Game
With online cooperative assistance, this new project is an intriguing blend of action, survival, strategy, town-building, and role-playing game features. The idea is that you, the player, were set up for the Prince’s unintentional death years prior. You discover a contract on the assassin’s corpse after escaping a recent attempt on your life. This begs the question: Was it simply poor luck that you were set up? Is there more to it, or not? You return to the location you fled, determined to find the answers.
Players will eventually learn the truth about their family’s secret and take on the role of the titular Bellwright by organizing a rebellion against their country’s despotic Sovereign. They will have unrestricted access to a 25-square-kilometer map. Therefore, you can liberate the different communities from the Queen’s rule.
Last month, participants in Bellwright’s sneak peek creator beta test provided very good feedback. Snail is even more confident that the game will appeal to users after this productive beta test.
“We can’t wait to introduce Bellwright to the world,” Snail, Inc. CEO Jim Tsai stated. “With its compelling narrative and immersive gameplay, we believe Bellwright has the potential to captivate players and become a long-term success.”
You might get nervous thinking about establishing a community in the Middle Ages while still experiencing oppression from the local lords. Bellwright will take you on that journey.
Bellwright Release Date
The Donkey Crew team originally planned to release the product in December 2023 but had to push back the development schedule until early 2024. This choice was taken to give Bellwright more polish and enhancements so players would receive the best possible experience when it launches in Early Access.
Snail, Inc. launched its highly anticipated game “Bellwright” into Early Access on Steam on April 23, 2024, at 12:00 pm UTC. Bellwright was made available on PC (Early Access) in the United States and the United Kingdom.
Sort out Your Priorities in Bellwright
After gaining a following, you must construct your settlement, which most survival enthusiasts would find interesting in the game. It’s similar to Rimworld in that your followers will carry out duties according to the priorities you establish for them. If you change the order of priority, they will build instead of farming if that is what you would prefer. If not, Donkey Crew clarified that they would handle matters as they saw fit.
The majority of constructions take several in-game days to finish. Therefore, building isn’t quick. Bellwright is, therefore, a slow burner, but it’s meant to force you to carefully evaluate what you have created. If a framework isn’t necessary, you must put it off or impede your development.
For instance, you might want to construct a blacksmith shop to begin crafting armor and weapons, but you already know what should come first if your people need a warehouse to store more food in order to survive the winter. Because the environment around you changes with the seasons, you will depend on stores during the winter and build up a new one during the spring and summer.
You’ll be the target of raids as your towns expand—you’ll have multiple as you play. In addition to naturally defending what is rightfully theirs, your supporters can be used in combat. You won’t be controlling soldiers during combat; instead, you will be giving orders to move or attack, much like in Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord. Donkey Crew also said that you may play the entire game without swinging a sword if you’d like.
Bellwright Steam Early Access
The town-building survival role-playing game Bellwright, developed by Donkey Crew and published by Snail Games USA, is currently playable on Steam Early Access. The Bellwright price of the Early Access version is USD 29.99. It should be fully available in three years.
The setting for Bellwright’s story is the medieval realm of Karvenia. Players take on the character of a man who has been found guilty of killing the prince and is facing the death penalty. After managing to elude his execution, he joins a rebellion against the despotic queen who issued his death sentence and caused his people’s misery.
Bellwright combines action, life modeling, and town construction with both solo and cooperative gameplay. The objective for players is to construct, oversee, and grow their own settlement. Creating alliances, assembling supplies, and defending the settlers are just a few of the tasks involved in this. The game gives players an open-world experience and some degree of control over how the plot develops.
Bellwright Game Modes
Single-player Campaign: Construct your legacy while attempting to disprove the accusations made against you.
Multiplayer Mode: Expand territory and resources by working together or competing with other players in the multiplayer mode.
Bellwright Trailers
Donkey Crew and Snail Games revealed Bellwright, a medieval cooperative survival game, last year, while their second survival game, Last Oasis, remained in early access. With the release of a new gameplay teaser trailer, they gave fans another look inside Bellwright’s medieval setting in March.
It allowed the developers to compile much-needed data and input in order to assist them in polishing the game in preparation for its impending debut.
Here is the last trailer released before the game:

The teaser immerses us in a dangerous medieval realm. Game mechanisms, crafting, gathering, combat, and the larger world are all covered in less than a minute. Before anything else, players who acquire Bellwright must weather the elements, and harvesting wood from the trees is an excellent way to start building a lodge.
Gaining the armor and tools needed for hunting and fighting will require you to become an expert in this art. Learn just how harsh life can be if, as the teaser suggests, you decide to fight against the oppression that descends upon an otherwise beautiful countryside.

Bellwright Gameplay and Mechanics
Strategic planning and resource management are critical components of the survival role-playing game that players participate in. Every step, from building simple shelters to creating expansive settlements, calls for strategic planning. With the help of their trained soldiers, players can take direct control of their character in combat thanks to the combat system’s emphasis on skill and strategy.
Hunting is a big part of Bellwright, particularly during the winter. During the fall, you can get resources from the plants and foliage, but during the winter, you must rely on your supplies and the local fauna.
One of the main priorities of the developers was their on-the-ground interactions with the town. They truly wanted to get it right to ensure it didn’t feel like a collection of production systems. They aimed to make the players feel like they were constructing the village in the game and to ensure that the non-player characters (NPCs) have lives of their own and are constantly engaged in some sort of activity.
Winter is also something the developers introduced. There was a significant redesign of the behavior system in addition to several bug fixes. Additionally, the food system has changed. The developers kind of gamified it, so to speak, and now it plays like other survival games in the genre. A companion system is also added that enables you to order them using contextual commands truly.
Key Features of Bellwright
- Rich Storyline and Setting: Take up your destiny by unraveling the dark secrets of your past, starting from nothing in a land tainted by oppression and rebellion.
- Advanced Construction and Crafting System: Gather resources, construct your settlement from the ground up, and use them prudently to expand your dominion.
- Strategic Battle and Army Leadership: Develop your ability to command and train troops in strategic, tactical battle. You also use the terrain and your squads to your advantage to outmaneuver your opponents.
- Dynamic World Interaction: Every choice you make affects the surrounding environment and political and physical terrain.
- Cooperative Multiplayer: Work together with friends in Bellwright co-op mode to construct and protect towns or take part in strategic battles on a grand scale.
Bellwright is just a group of gamers running their own website. The developers decided to forego the difficulties of server hosting after our prior multiplayer experience. The players are essentially free to choose how they wish to host.
A village cannot simply be entered and liberated against its will. That is not the intended mechanism of emancipation. It’s your job to enter a village and establish rapport with some NPCs, thereby having conversations. You can complete the quests that some NPCs have for you. Build up your trust, and once it reaches a specific level, you can erect what is known as a bell tower. This is a rebel emblem that enables you to organize the village to rebel. After that, a fierce struggle breaks out, and you must fight alongside the villagers to drive out the hostile occupying force.
Future of Bellwright
However, developers have a lot more plans for the future. After Early Access, they hope to build heavily on the concept of emancipation.
Developer Donkey Crew characterizes Bellwright’s environment as a child’s fantasy of a peaceful medieval setting complete with wide-open spaces, woods, feral creatures, and a bright sun. It’s stunning, enhancing the detail of each building and NPC as you approach them. However, this world has more to offer than just the gloomy bogs. Although your primary objective is to establish a settlement initially, your ultimate mission is to revolt against the authorities in charge of this territory.
