Starfield is an action role-playing game that officially came out last year in September 2023 and took the gaming community by storm with its exciting gameplay features. During the Xbox Games Showcase, players got to see its first trailer, which revealed the DLC’s launch window, story plot, and gameplay. Starfield Shattered Space Release Date
During the Gamescom Opening Night Live Broadcast, it was officially confirmed that Starfield Shattered Space will launch on September 30, 2024. The DLC will come out on all the platforms where Starfield was initially released,i.e., Xbox Series X/S and PC. You might be wondering if the upcoming Starfield Shattered Space DLC will be free. The answer to this will disappoint.
Unlike Starfield, its DLC will not be free with the Xbox Game Pass, so players who are currently playing the game through the service will be required to pay extra for the game’s DLC. The same goes for the PC players, meaning you’ll have to purchase the DLC in either case. If you’re thinking of diving into the world of Starfield through its DLC, then you’ll be required to pay.
Starfield Shattered Space DLC Plot
The Starfield Shattered Space DLC is confirmed to be a story expansion that’s mainly focused on House Va’ruun, one of Starfield’s many factions. In the story trailer, we see the character come across mysterious, ethereal aliens that are present in a dead space station. Fans also got a peek at a brand-new location, i.e., the city of Dazra on House Va’ruun’s hidden homeworld.
In the DLC, players must prepare to travel all the way to a brand-new world, where they’ll be forced to speak with the Va’ruun’s cult that worships a deity called the Great Serpent. Initially, this cult disappeared into isolation following the Colony War and are now residents of the mysterious and hidden homeworld. Players also saw ghostly figures in dialogue and in battle.
In an official Bethesda blog, it was revealed that the DLC will begin once players go after a distress signal that’s coming from a derelict star station. Further down the line, you’ll find yourself exploring the city of Dazra on House Va’ruun’s hidden homeworld. Compared to the base game, the Starfield Shattered Space story expansion is a little darker but very interesting.
While a suspicious power awakens in Dazra city, it’ll be your mission to investigate this upcoming massive threat that could eradicate everything. You’ll also get to explore a brand-new planet and discover powerful weapons, efficient spacesuits, and useful gear during your journey. The only question that remains is if you have what it takes to eliminate foes and ensure peace.
Starfield Shattered Space DLC Trailers
On June 9, 2024, fans received confirmation and a first look at the upcoming Starfield DLC. The expansion’s official trailer featured its exciting gameplay, features, gear, spacesuits, vehicles, locations, bounties, and so much more. It also offered a look at the House Va’ruun homeworld, which has its own unique art style and contains purple skies.

Starfield Shattered Space DLC Gameplay
In addition to the story, the Starfield Shattered Space DLC is set to introduce a wide range of brand-new gameplay features to the game’s world. Therefore, you can expect to discover new equipment, gear, weapons, and ship modules during your journey through the House Va’ruun. However, it hasn’t been officially revealed how everything is going to work in the upcoming DLC.
Players will come against some of the most lethal and deadliest Shattered Space enemies that will be both new and old. In the trailers, we caught a glimpse of spider-like aliens, giant beasts, and ghostly men. The DLC is set to introduce multiple people and locations that are connected to House Va’ruun, which might mean that players see new mercenary factions to go up against.
The Shattered Space DLC might also greatly stress the religious aspect of the game by introducing a ton of brand-new dialogue choices for player characters with or against House Va’ruun. You’ll come across characters faithful to Va’ruun on their own turf who will present themselves as pilgrims rather than intruders since that would work more smoothly in the game.

If you’re wondering, “Is Starfield multiplayer?” then the answer to this question is no. And, since there’s no Starfield Multiplayer mode, the upcoming DLC will also be single-player. The developers might introduce a multiplayer mode at some point in the future. For now, there don’t seem to be plans for anything like this to happen soon, which is unfortunate.

Players who have already purchased Starfield’s Premium or Constellation Editions won’t have to pay an extra cost. Will Starfield Introduce More DLC Following Shattered Space?
During an interview with the popular content creator MrMattyPlays, the Bethesda director and executive producer Todd Howard revealed that he was “aiming to do an annual story expansion every year.” So, it means evelopers are planning on introducing yearly Starfield DLC expansions and content packs!
However, Howard wasn’t sure for how long they’ll continue with these DLC, and when asked, he said, “Hopefully, a very long time.” Bethesda also trademarked the word “Starborn,” which is an in-game reference to the cosmic travelers featured in Starfield. This suggests that players might see more content surrounding the lore soon. Fallout 4 received six DLCs, so why not Starfield?
