One of the series that make a lot of people excited is definitely Monster Hunter. Over the years, the series managed to arrive on PC and now it’s widely seen as one of the coolest series where you work together with others in order to hunt monsters. The series itself is the pinnacle of coop for a lot of people. Yet at the same time, you can still play it on your own and test your skills as much as you can.
That’s what makes Monster Hunter Wilds very interesting, because this new installment maintains the open world aspect, while still being a whole lot of fun. Another thing to note about Monster Hunter Wilds is the fact that the game is focusing specifically on an entirely new world and some very creative regions. They are also pushing the boundaries with designs as well.
What did Capcom show regarding Monster Hunter Wilds?
From what we saw, the Monster Hunter Wilds platforms are PS5 and PC, but they might add other platforms into the mix as well. And that’s why it can be a great idea to give it a try on console, although it seems the Monster Hunter Wilds PC version will be feature-filled and optimized. For many years, if the game is made for console, we will see PC as an afterthought.
But it seems that they are working hard to make the PC version as good as the console one. That means optimizing certain features specifically for PC, and we hope that will also translate into very good performance for the platform. Only time can tell, but we know for a fact the gameplay appears to be very promising and certainly one of the nicest experiences we can see in the Monster Hunter series.
What’s also important to note is that Capcom did not show a lot, just a trailer and some screenshots. From what we see, we can figure out the fact that at least one of the worlds where we will go and explore the region for monsters will be a desert themed world. That adds a lot of interesting possibilities, and the creatures they showed certainly add to that idea.
Unfortunately, there were no big bosses shown, which fuels our minds with a lot of speculation. There are some great ideas to be had in the trailer, and we can only imagine that the weather effects shown into the game will play a role as well. That can definitely be one of the cooler things to include.
A very interesting mount style
Yes, the Monster Hunter Wilds mount seems to be a combination between a running and flying mount. He can run at a very high speed, and yet at the same time he also has the ability to fly. That opens up a lot of great ideas when it comes to Monster Hunter Wilds and what type of traversal we will have. From the trailer, we saw that the mount can easily jump from one side to the other, and that alone might be very useful.
In general, Monster Hunter is a series of games known for making it hard to reach some of the more challenging areas. So it makes a lot of sense to have some great places we can reach only with an appropriate mount. We don’t know if the mount shown in the trailer is the only mount or if there is another mount or more of them available. Knowing Capcom, we will most likely see a lot of those mounts, but only time can tell.
Weather effects
One of the nicest things that we saw in Monster Hunter Wilds trailer is that we will encounter a lot of weather effects. Those might affect the gameplay, as a lot of enemies were damaged by the weather, and that alone can prove to be problematic. But it’s still very exciting to see all of that, and at the end of the day you will find the gameplay to be a whole lot of fun.
Once we learn how to master these weather effects, it will become a lot easier to figure out how to make the most out of these features. From what we saw, Monster Hunter Wilds does an excellent job at trying to keep things fun and not overly complicated. However, we can also expect them to experiment with things and see how far they can go with some of their ideas. And based on what we saw, there’s a lot of potential with the game and what it can offer at this time.
Transforming the biome
The trailer also shows a shockwave that basically transformed the entire setting into a new one. Will that be something we can do or trigger? We don’t know, but it definitely feels to be as a part of the game. That’s exciting because it adds an entirely new set of ideas, while still being very creative and fun as well. People definitely speculate that this is something which will give us access to new biomes and potentially new monsters on the same map.
While that can be a possibility, it’s very hard to know if/how it will become a reality. But at the end of the day, people will always try to figure out how all the pieces come together and whether we have what it takes as we test our limits. Having biomes that require specific resistances or maybe certain weapons can be a nice change of pace.
If we base this on the previous games, Capcom is not afraid to innovate. Granted, the game doesn’t really seem a huge leap from a visual perspective. Yet it still adds that uniqueness and excitement we want to see in a Monster Hunter game. That being said, it might take a while until we receive more details about the game.
Is Monster Hunter Wilds open world?
Yes, the question whether Monster Hunter Wilds is open world or not is definitely something very popular right now. And that’s for a good reason, because Monster Hunter Wilds has been in people’s minds for quite some time now. From what we see, the game certainly seems to be open world. They are showing a massive game world that can also be transformed, so that alone is very exciting.
With that in mind, the open world concept is extremely interesting, and it adds to the appeal of Monster Hunter Wilds. While they are not showing any of the major bosses or monsters that we will face, it’s safe to say that many of them will be new for the series. We like the fact that they showed some stuff, but not enough to be dangerous.
As they do that, they open up the door for a lot of speculation. And it’s tricky because people find it very difficult to narrow down the exact type of monsters we will see. From the trailer, there seems to be multiple monster types, and hopefully other trailers in the future will be able to shed some light on the idea.
More large scale encounters
Monster Hunter is one of those games where you know there will be a lot of large monsters. And yes, we think that will be continued, the legacy goes on with this game. It’s very hard to figure out what they will add to the game, but knowing Capcom, they do have a lot up their sleeve. With that in mind, the latest few games also had a very good reception, so we can only imagine that Monster Hunter Wilds will be a hit as well.
Variety is key, and while some people want returning monsters, I think most players that love the series are waiting for something fresh. They want iconic monster styles and types that they can remember for years to come. That’s why the setting, along with locations and battle types are very important here. It’s the stuff that you remember from these Monster Hunter battles, so it has to matter as it pushes you to play again and again.
Will Monster Hunter Wilds be similar to Rise or World?
A lot of people liked Monster Hunter World, but Rise was an acquired taste. The community liked the roster in Rise, but the visuals and style was not up to everyone’s liking. The trailer suggests a return to form with a World-like approach, but only time can tell if they will go down that route or not. Based on the info we have and the trailers, it certainly feels that we are heading into that direction, with some very creative gameplay choices.
Then aside from that, we also have to figure out what features from Rise and World will come to this Monster Hunter Wilds game. We expect they will add some new stuff, but how will that impact the gameplay and experience, that’s very difficult to narrow down. But from what we see, it certainly feels very interesting and impactful, without pressuring players too much. That alone is a very good sign, and we know that Capcom is always trying to please fans, while also bringing their own ideas and innovation into the mix.
Does Monster Hunter Wilds have crossplay?
Based on the previous 2 games that were launched which did not have crossplay, we expect Monster Hunter Wilds to not have crossplay either. However, with the game launching on multiple platforms, there is a possibility. Only Capcom can tell whether they will add such a feature or not. For the time being, we think that they are not adding crossplay, and there’s no information that they will.
However, that also means you want your friends to acquire the game on the same platform as you. Because if they get it on the consoles and you have the game on PC, there is a chance you will not be able to play with them. Capcom is not known for having a great crossplay approach towards Monster Hunter, so ideally you want to acquire the game on PC or on console and ensure your friends do the same.
It would be a good idea to have this game on the newer consoles, but who knows when those will arrive. The Sony president said that PS5 is towards the end of its run, so yeah, we might expect a PS6 sooner rather than later. That also means Monster Hunter Wilds might be available on that console in the future. With that in mind, the Monster Hunter Wilds console version will be for PS5, and we will have it on PC as well.
Will we have a Monster Hunter Wilds Steam version?
Yes, Capcom actually created a Steam page for the game already. There’s not a lot of info there outside of the trailer and a few images. However, that shows the commitment they have towards releasing it on PC. The only problem that people have is whether the game will be optimized for PC or not. As we said earlier, many times these games become an afterthought for PC, and they are just console version optimized just a little bit.
The lack of optimization and performance problems can sometimes be a major factor when it comes to bringing console titles on PC. Thankfully, Monster Hunter games ran quite well on PC, at least the last few releases were quite well optimized. Only time will tell whether Monster Hunter Wilds will work very well on Steam or not.
