Fans disappointed to see the absence of Quidditch in Hogwarts Legacy are all now eagerly anticipating the arrival of Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions. Only a handful of traits exist in the world of Hogwarts that fans adore, one of which is its popular and exciting brooms-and-ball sport, Quidditch. It has been a long time since the launch of a game that focuses on the sport.
Developed by Unbroken Studios, Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is a multiplayer sports game that allows players to delve into the Wizarding World through its popular sport. You can play alone or with friends and families, so fun is guaranteed either way. Get your brooms up and prepare to soar into the air for an exciting game of Quidditch.
Here’s everything we know!
Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions Release Date & Platforms
Warner Bros. Games launched a “Welcome Students” trailer in which it was confirmed that the Harry Potter Quidditch Champions release date will be September 3, 2024. Therefore, there’s only a week more of waiting before players can finally soar into the air and compete with other teams to catch the Quaffle, Bludger, and Snitch. So, are you ready to play some Quidditch?
Harry Potter Quidditch Champions platforms include Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. On top of these new-gen consoles, it has been confirmed that the sports game will also launch on old consoles, including Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Unfortunately, the Switch version will be getting a delayed launch.
This might be because the developers need to fulfill some special optimization requirements since the device has far fewer hardware specifications than the PlayStation4 and Xbox One. However, since the PS4 and Xbox One versions will be released alongside the new-gen consoles, you won’t have to wait much longer for that!

Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions Gameplay
Players got a glimpse at the Harry Potter Quidditch Champions gameplay through the trailers and have been excited ever since they saw it. The upcoming game is a multiplayer sports game that mainly focuses on competitive play. Fans get to play the sport by playing one of the four positions, i.e., Seeker, Keeper, Chaser, and Beater. So, which role can you play the best?
The last time we saw the sport Quidditch featured in a game was back in 2003’s Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup. In this game, players had the power to control the whole team. However, in Quidditch Champions, players can choose to take one role per match. Each role offers an entirely new perspective, challenges, and excitement. It keeps the game more unique and fresh.
In Quidditch Champions, three Chasers are present on the field and will be found either passing, tackling, or sending the Quaffle flying into the goal. There are two Beaters, and their goal is to launch the Bludger at their enemies to shake them from their tracks and sway them from their game. One Keeper is on the ground, whose goal is to prevent enemies from scoring.
Last but not least, we have one Seeker who puts an end to the match by finally getting hold of the Golden Snitch. If either of these roles seems like something that you might excel at, then you should definitely enhance your skills in that area by playing the match. Prepare to take down your enemies by either shoving them off their brooms or catching the Snitch before them!
Levelling Up
Similar to the actual Quidditch players, you can level up your character’s skillset and explore various play styles. Since there aren’t any details about different Quidditch strategies in the Harry Potter books, fans are curious to know the creativity Unbroken Studios incorporates in the upcoming game regarding the sport’s tactics. Hopefully, this is going to be a ride in itself!
On top of this, players can also change their entire flying style simply by acquiring a new broom or leveling up their current ones. While brooms are only a cosmetic item in Hogwarts Legacy, getting your hands on new brooms will feel much more exciting in the upcoming game. There is a wide range of brooms to choose from in the upcoming game, so you won’t run out of options.
Unfortunately, a massive Harry Potter Quidditch Champions gameplay leak took place last year in May that featured many upcoming game features. It offered a glance into the Wizarding World, letting us know of the character customization options and the different roles players will get to play. This footage was leaked on Reddit but was removed due to copyright notice.
Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions Game Modes
Unlike other Harry Potter games, it heavily focuses on competitive multiplayer mode like other sports games. While Quidditch is a seven-person sport, Quidditch Champions actually focuses on 3v3 gameplay, which has come as a disappointment to many. However, it remains to be seen how Unbroken Studios pulls this off. The upcoming game features four exciting game modes.
Players can experience Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions in several ways, with the most anticipated one being the Career Mode. In this mode, players get the chance to grow from fledglings who are exploring their skills and trying them out to absolute professionals competing for the Quidditch World Cup. While we know the basics, this mode’s depth remains a mystery.
Career Mode
Career Mode and Exhibition Matches are game modes in which players get to pick their teams, difficulty, and stadiums. Players can dive into this mode solo or with their friends, but make sure to have a steady internet connection since it’s a requirement. The trailers suggest that the game features some tournaments, with the Quidditch World Cup being the premiere competition.
Last but not least, we have the PvP mode, in which players will be able to show off their Quidditch skills as either the Chaser, Seeker, Keeper, or Beater. Initially, Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions was announced as a competitive multiplayer gaming experience, which is why many players are hoping for a ranked mode to be introduced in the game as well.
If you’re thinking about a playtest, you’re a bit too late. With the game set to release in the next few days, the playtest has been done and dusted. The Harry Potter Quidditch Champions playtest began on April 21, 2023, and lasted only one day since it ended on April 22. This one was quite successful, with many players enjoying the game.
Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions Character Customization
Quidditch Champions is set to feature extensive character customization options, as evidenced by the screen in one of the trailers. You can choose how you want your character to look physically, which includes altering their hairstyle, eyes, skin tone, etc, to your liking. Moreover, a wide range of outfit options is also available, such as casual clothes, Hogwarts robes, and more.
However, if you don’t feel like creating your character, you’ll still have the option to play as one of the iconic Harry Potter characters from the movies. The trailers suggest that they will also have various outfit options. The game also features many broomstick skins, allowing players to make their characters more unique. However, a broom goes way beyond what the eye sees.
Every broom in Quidditch Champions has Speed, Durability, and Agility statistics, which players can easily upgrade. It’s worth noting that skins have no impact on these stats, but it means that many brooms are just waiting to be unlocked and updated in the upcoming game. Harry Potter, Draco Malfoy, Ron Weasley, and Cho Chang have been confirmed as playable characters.
So far, it isn’t clear how these characters will fit in each of the four game modes or if they’ll even be available for online matches. However, many more characters are expected to be included in the game apart from these four alone. The game is also set to feature seasonal and weather changes on the Quidditch pitch since snow, summer, and rain have been seen in the trailers.

One question might be popping up in your head, i.e., Is Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions free?
