    Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

Nintendo Direct 2024 offered a glimpse at several games, but one that excited many was the introduction of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. This is set to be the first-ever game in the series that’ll be based on the perspective of Princess of Zelda instead of the good old Link. Echoes of Wisdom will feature plenty of problem-solving mechanics that’ll keep you hooked.

What’s more interesting is that Echoes of Wisdom will be a 2D-style title, unlike its predecessor, Tears of the Kingdom. The first time we ever saw the developers dabble in this style was in 2013’s The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, and the latest was in 2019’s Link’s Awakening Remake. In this article, we’ll explore the upcoming game some more, so let’s go!

When Does Echoes Of Wisdom Come Out?

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

The Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom release date is September 26, 2024. You can get your hands on the game once it releases at midnight EST based on previous titles. The game’s physical copies will also launch on the same day as its digital version, so make sure you’re ready for the game!

On top of the game, the developers will also launch a brand-new Hyrule edition of the Nintendo Switch Lite system. On the same day as the upcoming game’s release. Hopefully, you got your answer to the question, “When is Echoes of Wisdom coming out?”. Unfortunately, there’s still some time left till the release of The Legend of Zelda title, but it looks like it’ll be worth the wait!

The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom Trailer

    Trailers

Nearly two months ago, fans received a first look at the Echoes of Wisdom world through the game’s announcement trailer. The trailer kicks off with Link getting to some end of a dungeon where the evil Ganon had held Princess Zelda captive in a crystal. The two lock swords, and after an intense battle, Link frees Zelda. However, he falls into a suspicious-looking pink rift.

Once Zelda manages to escape the situation, fans realize she will be the title’s protagonist, who will rescue Link. In the trailer, we also discover that Zelda won’t be alone on this challenging quest since a new fairy named Tri will be with her. The two will journey all over Hyrule in search of a way to stop these mysterious rifts from spreading and sucking in citizens and places.

Nintendo released another trailer almost a month later called The Traversing Hyrule Trailer. However, this video isn’t much of a trailer as it is a general walkthrough of the game’s setting. There’s a particular narrator who walks us through plenty of locations that players will explore in Echoes of Wisdom. Players also see some new mechanics that’ll be featured for traversal.

Nearly a month ago, Nintendo revealed another trailer to provide more information on the rifts that keep opening all over Hyrule. In the trailer, we peek into a brand-new location called the Still World. It’s the world within the rift where we see the destroyed parts of Hyrule that have been sucked in, with people and objects frozen and floating in mid-air that’ll soon fade away.

While in the Still World, Zelda must go through dungeons and utilize her Echoes to find her way, solve puzzles, and take down enemies. If her Echoes just don’t cut it, she can get a sword that’ll turn her into a copy of Link. Unfortunately, the Sword won’t stick around forever, so the princess will have to refill its energy by getting her hands on some orbs in the terrifying Still World.

The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom Gameplay

gameplay of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

Echoes of Wisdom is inspired by some previous The Legend of Zelda titles and other Switch games like Tunic in the sense that it features an isometric perspective and chibi characters. The upcoming game features an art direction that’s exactly similar to the popular The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening remake, which was released on Nintendo Switch back in 2019.

The Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom Nintendo Switch game is set to feature excellent gameplay mechanics that are both new and old. The upcoming game features quite a lot of changes and swerves away from the previous titles’ path to create a more unique gameplay experience. For example, Princess Zelda will take over the role of the playable protagonist.

In addition to this, players won’t see the Princess carrying a sword like Link, but she’ll have her own unique powers. Some of these powers allow her to create and duplicate objects to solve puzzles, clear hurdles, and destroy her enemies. Both creativity and problem-solving are going to be a huge component in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, allowing players to think outside the box.

The Power Of The Tri Staff

The power of the Tri Staff

With the help of the Tri Staff, players can solve problems and get through obstacles by creating duplicates (famously known as echoes) of objects. You can place these echoes all over the game’s world. On top of objects, you can also make echoes of the craziest of enemies in Echoes of Wisdom that dare to cross your path and take full advantage of their lethal powers.

The Tri Staff or Tri Rod will also help you travel through the game’s world by placing tables to climb mountains and going through dungeons by using items to block the wind. The game will feature an exciting fast-travel system that uses Waypoints. It also helps speed up the usual travel with the help of a horse that players can summon as soon as they unlock the Carrot Echo.

You have the upper hand while riding on your horse since you can easily trample over your enemies and jump over various obstacles. Aside from this, the developers also revealed two new powers that will be seen in the upcoming game. One is Bind, which allows players to attach to objects that will eventually follow Zelda’s movement. This movement was seen in a trailer.

    Reverse Bind

The second one is called Reverse Bind, and just as it sounds, it’s the exact opposite of Bind. If you connect to something, it’ll force Zelda to walk in that particular pattern, like connecting to a bird in order to fly in the same direction. Moreover, Echoes of Wisdom is set to feature a wide range of beautiful and brand-new outfits and clothing that players can buy and show off.

Last but not least, you can also make different kinds of smoothies that will grant you buffs at many smoothie stands by mixing together ingredients you will find scattered in the world. Many franchise fans have also been wondering, “Is Zelda Echoes of Wisdom a remake?”. As it turns out, the upcoming game is not a remake but a part of Nintendo Switch’s mainline series.

The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom In Timeline

    Zelda game series timeline

The ending of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time made the entire timeline of the game series divided into three different branches. Two of these branches follow the story of Link and Zelda following their victory over Ganondorf. However, the remaining branch explores the events after Link loses the battle. This specific timeline is called The Hero is Defeated Timeline.

Many theories suggest that the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom game falls into this particular Zelda timeline. While many have been asking, “Is Zelda Echoes of Wisdom a sequel?” the answer to this question still remains somewhat of a mystery. Many people believe that it’s a starting point to something big, whereas others believe that it might be a prequel.

Is Echoes Of Wisdom A Sequel To Link’s Awakening?

Link's Awakening comparison with The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

Following the release of the game’s trailer, many players began to highlight the various similarities between The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom and 2019’s Link’s Awakening Remake. In addition to the characters, the game’s style, graphics, and mechanics are also similar. Hyrule’s layout in the upcoming is also somewhat similar to the one in Link’s Awakening.

On top of this, the art style between the two games is also mostly the same. Even the storylines match quite well. For instance, in both games, Link returns to Hyrule and discovers that Zelda has been taken captive by Ganondorf. So now he has to destroy him. In the middle of the battle, he falls into another dimension, leaving it up to Zelda to rescue the hero.

All of these facts and similarities make one believe that The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom might just be a sequel to Link’s Awakening. However, the developers haven’t officially confirmed this. If this turns out to be true, then that will be epic news for The Legend of Zelda fans.
